About the Archive

About the Project

I am Mildred's great-granddaughter, Julia Wohlforth. I have undertaken this digital archive project after a lifetime of hearing stories about her fascinating career. Working with Mildred's son, Eric Wohlforth (my grandfather) and grandson, Charles Wohlforth (my father), I have been able to pull together items preserved by the family and held by the Princeton University Library. I hope that this archive will facilitate future research about early female journalists, as well as make it easier for members of our family to access information about our ancestor. The work done here is only a fraction of the work that could be done, as despite the large number of items collected, there are many more at the Princeton Library and in family collections. In fact, none of Mildred's many novels have been digitized here due to time constraints. For those interested in the Algonquin Round table, there are also many more letters from members that were not digitized due to the overwhelming numbers.

For more background on how Mildred's career can be traced with these documents please see the "About Mildred" page, and glance through the exhibits.
